The UK Ministry of Defence has officially confirmed the transfer of all 99 AS-90 self-propelled howitzers that remained in service to Ukraine.
This is according to an official document released under a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request, user NedSnow2019 shared on X.
The report clarifies that the transferred systems match the data from UN ROCA for 2021, which listed 99 AS-90 units in the UK’s inventory.
It remains unknown what happened to the 37 howitzers that were then awaiting disposal – they were likely used as a source of spare parts for repairs of the main systems.
The response also confirmed the transfer of 28 M109A4BE self-propelled howitzers from the United Kingdom to Ukraine.
In addition, the document confirms the delivery of 54 L119 105mm towed howitzers, which are currently in use by Ukrainian artillery.
All of these items belong to previous aid packages that have only now been officially acknowledged by the British side.
Thus, the FOIA request has for the first time documented the complete transfer of British AS-90s to Ukraine – including all units that remained in service.
Recently, London reinforced Kyiv with new Storm Shadow missiles ahead of winter.
