Finland has announced a new, 28th military aid package for Ukraine, valued at around €200 million.
Antti Häkkänen, Finland’s Minister of Defence, announced this during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umerov.
The package is set to be approved by the Finnish government and president.
“As with previous packages, the specific details of the aid are not being disclosed. However, it can be shared that this package includes, among other things, much-needed artillery ammunition,” Häkkänen stated .
He also emphasized that Finland enjoys strong political support and national unity when it comes to providing assistance to Ukraine.
“It is also significant that we have managed to align our support for Ukraine with strengthening the security of supply chains through the industrial support program,” the Finnish minister added.
During the meeting, Häkkänen and Umierov also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries.
The purpose of the document is to deepen defense cooperation. This area covers issues such as defense materials, information exchange, research and innovation, ammunition production, and more.
In January, Finland announced its 27th military aid package worth nearly €200 million.
It was also reported that Finland supports the second phase (2025-2027) of the Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine (PFRU) with a contribution of €4.5 million.
In addition, the Finnish government has launched a program worth EUR 660 million.
Within this initiative, military equipment will be purchased directly from Finland’s defense industry. The products from Finnish companies will then be transferred to Ukraine as part of future military aid packages.
