Slovenia will receive support from Finland in the procurement of Patria AMV (Armored Modular Vehicles) 8×8 armored personnel carriers.
This is stated in a press release from Patria.
According to the company, on February 13, the Ministers of Defense of Finland and Slovenia signed an agreement to support the purchase of these combat vehicles.
With this step, both countries confirmed their readiness to cooperate, and Slovenia will receive Finnish assistance in the purchase of armored personnel carriers.
It is known that Slovenia already operates Patria AMV armored personnel carriers in the Svarun version and planned to purchase an additional batch in the Rosomak version.
The Patria AMV is a multi-purpose wheeled armored combat vehicle developed in 2001.
Its modular design allows the platform to be used as an armored personnel carrier, infantry fighting vehicle, command vehicle and ambulance.
The chassis can have an 8×8 or 6×6 wheel configuration.
The basic steel armor can be enhanced with modular composite armor. This provides frontal protection against 30mm armor-piercing sub-caliber projectiles, meeting Level 6 of the STANAG 4569 standard.
In addition, the vehicle has mine protection capable of withstanding an explosion of up to 10 kg of TNT under the wheel or underbody.
The Patria AMV is equipped with a Scania diesel engine with an output of 360 to 540 hp, which allows it to reach speeds of over 100 km/h on the highway.
The independent hydropneumatic suspension provides high cross-country ability and comfort for the crew on rough terrain. The vehicle can also overcome water obstacles by swimming at speeds of up to 10 km/h.
The vehicle in various variations is in service with the armies of Finland, Poland, Ukraine, Croatia, Slovenia, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates and South Africa. In total, more than 1300 units of this vehicle have been produced.
