Russian FPV drone operators received FPV goggles rigged with explosives. The goggles, intended for drone control, were reportedly supplied by volunteers.

Russian Telegram channels shared relevant photos and videos.

According to these sources, a batch of booby-trapped devices was intercepted en route to the front lines. The explosives were designed to detonate upon first activation.

The Russian military claims to have discovered improvised explosive devices inside Skyzone Cobra XV4 FPV goggles.

The charge, estimated at 10-15 grams of plastic explosive, was placed under the casing near the cooling fan, close to the wearer’s temple. The detonation circuit was linked to the power button, making activation potentially fatal.

It was reportedly found during the inspection of humanitarian aid provided by volunteers. However, judging by the video, in order to detect the explosives, the outer casing of the glasses must be removed.

Probably, the reason for such a thorough check was the triggering of at least one pair of goggles.

As previously reported, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, the Chief of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Troops, was killed in an explosion in Moscow.

The explosion occurred at around 6 a.m. local time on Tuesday, December 17, near a residential building on Ryazansky Prospekt in Moscow, as Kirillov and his assistant were exiting the building.

According to the investigation, the explosive device was planted in an electric scooter that was parked near the entrance.

The day before, the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) reported that it had served a notice of suspicion to the Russian general who ordered the use of chemical weapons against the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The report refers specifically to Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.

“On Kirillov’s order, more than 4,800 cases of enemy use of chemical munitions have been recorded since the beginning of the full-scale war,” the SSU said.
