Explosion on Russian Railway: Reports of Partisan Operation

A military train was derailed in the Leningrad region of Russia, paralyzing railway traffic, several Russian media outlets reported.

On the morning of October 7, an explosion occurred on the railway section Stroganovo – Mshinskaya in the Leningrad region of the Russian Federation.

As a result of the explosion, the locomotive and several carriages of the train, which was carrying military cargo, were derailed.

The Military Information Center was also informed about the incident by a source in the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.

“As a result of a successfully executed special operation by unknown partisans, train traffic on the Saint Petersburg – Pskov route was paralyzed,” a representative of the intelligence service reported.

According to the source, the railway track explosion was the result of a special operation by unknown partisans aimed at disrupting the logistics of Russian military transportation in the northwestern region of the country.

Russian official sources have not yet confirmed the explosion. Meanwhile, the company Russian Railways stated that traffic on the Stroganovo – Mshinskaya section has been temporarily suspended due to “technical reasons.”

Freight and passenger trains are currently rerouting around the affected section, causing delays of several hours in both directions, to Saint Petersburg and Pskov.

Sources in intelligence add that mobile phone service and internet are unavailable in the area of the accident, making it impossible to spread photographic or video evidence of the incident.

According to preliminary information, train traffic on the Saint Petersburg-Pskov route remains limited, and Russian authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the explosion.

It is worth noting that, on the night of Monday, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck strategic military and industrial targets in Russia and occupied Crimea.

The resistance movement in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai, in coordination with Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, successfully disabled a key oil refining facility at the local refinery.
