General Dynamics Land Systems has unveiled the latest version of its LAV 6.0 armored personnel carrier at the Canadian Security (CANSEC) exhibition, Armada International reports.
The newly revealed LAV 6.0 Mk 2 is an 8×8 platform that integrates upgraded combat capabilities and design improvements across the LAV family.
It features a redesigned turret with enhanced firepower and improved tactical performance.
The main weapon is a dual-feed 30×173mm XM813 automatic cannon (Mk44 variant), which supports programmable Mk310 high-explosive fragmentation rounds.
Operators can configure the ammunition for point-detonation, high-explosive, or airburst fragmentation modes, increasing effectiveness against personnel and drones.
The turret is also equipped with a launcher for Switchblade loitering munitions and anti-tank guided missiles.
LAV 6.0 vehicles are built on the modernized LAV III platform and feature significant upgrades, including improved protection against 14.5mm armor-piercing rounds from all directions.
Additional updates include new diagnostic systems and a 450-horsepower engine, allowing speeds of up to 100 km/h on roads and 40 km/h off-road.
Miltarnyi previously reported that Ukraine currently operates LAV 6.0s in the Armoured Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV) configuration.
Canada has committed to supplying Ukraine with 50 of these vehicles.
