Several EU countries have committed to providing an additional €15 billion to support Ukraine.
This announcement was made by European Council President António Costa following the EU summit in Brussels.
He emphasized that the EU stood ready to further strengthen its support for Ukraine in those challenging times.
“Member states can swiftly enhance their support by expanding fiscal space. Several countries have already pledged commitments of up to €15 billion,” Costa remarked.
He further noted that the EU leaders had tasked the European Council with urgently exploring additional initiatives to address Ukraine’s critical military and defense needs.
“At the same time, we are preparing to support Ukraine when it chooses to begin negotiations, ensuring a positive and meaningful outcome. This will pave the way for a just and lasting peace,” Costa stated.
The President of the European Council also highlighted that EU assistance to Ukraine had already surpassed €135 billion since 2022.
Militarnyi previously reported that Norway would more than double its financial support for Ukraine in 2025, increasing aid to $7.8 billion, as Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre had announced.
As part of its increased aid, Norway will allocate NOK 3.5 billion (€300 million) for purchasing military equipment from Ukraine’s defense industry.
An additional NOK 600 million (€51.5 million) will be dedicated to acquiring drones and supporting the development of unmanned technologies for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Norway is also exploring the possibility of using its €1.7 trillion sovereign wealth fund (the world’s largest) to significantly boost support for Ukraine.
The fund, which gained €109 billion from rising gas prices in 2022–2023, reported a record profit of $222 billion in 2024.
