A vessel of the European Border and Coast Guard Agency Frontex sank near the eastern Greek island of Megisti.
Reuters reports on this.
On board were four Estonian nationals, including the Estonian Ambassador to Greece, as well as one officer of the Greek coast guard.
According to the media, four people were injured.
All five were pulled from the water by coast guard units and a passing catamaran. The injured were taken to a medical center on the island of Kastellorizo.
Later, a Super Puma helicopter of the Greek Air Force evacuated the four injured to a hospital on the island of Rhodes.
The causes of the incident remain unknown, as does the type of vessel that sank. However, the small number of people on board may indicate that it was a small patrol boat.
Frontex is actively involved in managing the migration situation in the Mediterranean, so the incident may have occurred during one of the inspections or patrols in the region.
