In Turkey, the Baykar company is already training future employees of the drone manufacturing plant being built in Ukraine.
Baykar CEO Haluk Bayraktar said this in a comment to Ukrinform.
In particular, there are 20 students of the Kyiv Aviation Institute and 14 employees in Turkey.
They will be trained at Baykar for at least nine months.
“During the training, a new group of people will arrive. So we are preparing to train people for the enterprise, to launch production,” Bayraktar said.
According to him, machinery and equipment have already been ordered for the enterprise in Ukraine.
“We have ordered machinery and the necessary equipment. That’s why we are moving forward. We want and hope for a just peace. We would like to start immediately after that. We are ready for this. We are preparing and are very close to it,” added Baykar’s CEO.
The Turkish company Baykar, which manufactures Bayraktar TB2 combat drones, is investing a total of $100 million in three projects in Ukraine, including the construction of a drone manufacturing plant.
In February 2024, Haluk Bayraktar reported that the construction of the Baykar plant in Ukraine would be completed within 12 months, and then the stage of internal technical equipment would begin.
Answering the question whether Baykar’s plans are threatened by the full-scale war in Ukraine, Haluk Bayraktar said that the plans were moving forward and nothing could stop them.
The plant’s capacity will be able to produce about 120 drones a year, but a specific model has not yet been chosen. It could be the Bayraktar TB2 or even the TB3.
The new Bayraktar TB3 drone is visually similar to the Bayraktar TB2, but has larger dimensions and folding wings to be deployed on aircraft carriers or universal landing ships.
