The Armed Forces of Ukraine will use combat drones with artificial intelligence at the front.
The Ministry of Defense has approved the SAKER SCOUT drone with artificial intelligence.
These drones should help Ukrainian troops to destroy the Russian invaders more effectively.
The Ministry of Defense reported that the SAKER software is based on artificial intelligence algorithms.
It is noted that the system independently recognizes and records the coordinates of enemy equipment (even camouflaged) using advanced optics, and immediately transmits information to the command post for decision-making.
“This eliminates the risks of human error, as the operator’s eye is not always able to capture all the nuances,” the Ministry of Defense added.
This unmanned system includes a flagship reconnaissance drone and several FPV kamikaze drones, which are adjusted by the flagship drone.
The main declared capabilities of the SAKER SCOUT drone are as follows:
The Ministry of Defense noted that the procedure for allowing the drone to operate was as quick as possible.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense did not disclose any further details about the capabilities of the drone.
In August, Militarnyi reported that AirUnit company specialists were developing FPV drones with a self-homing system. Andrii Shtepa, co-owner of the company, said that the drone’s guidance system was planned to be implemented through computer vision and creating an algorithm of drone work during a loss of communication.
Due to such a system, the operator of the FPV drone will need to lock-on the target by selecting the object on the screen, then automation will enter into action. This solves the problem of loss of communication and missing targets. However, the use of this system will increase the cost of the drones by 3-4 times.
