Drones Strike Port of Taman, Fuel Tank Catches Fire

Strike drones attacked the main oil and gas facility in the village of Volna, Krasnodar Krai.

The regional operational headquarters reported the attack and its aftermath.

According to official information, one of the petroleum product storage tanks caught fire. Russian sources claim the blaze was caused by falling debris.

However, downplaying the causes and consequences remains a standard propaganda tactic of the Russian authorities.

Veniamin Kondratyev, Krasnodar Krai Governor, noted that, in addition to the storage tanks, a warehouse and terminal facilities were also damaged.

However, the official did not provide further details about the extent of the destruction.

The settlement of Volna hosts one of the key logistical facilities of Russia’s fuel and energy complex on the Black Sea.

This refers to the terminal of the company Tamanneftegaz (part of the OTÉKO Group), which operates at the Port of Taman near Cape Zhelezny Rog.

The facility plays an important role in supporting Russian oil exports and in the logistics of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, given its proximity to the Crimean Bridge and the occupied peninsula.

According to available information, the terminal’s capacity reaches about 19.9 million tons of oil and petroleum products per year.

The facility’s tank farm for storing petroleum products and liquefied gas has a total capacity of over 1 million cubic meters.

It is worth noting that this is not the first attack on the oil and gas facility. In particular, on January 21, 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck oil infrastructure at the Russian Port of Taman in Krasnodar Krai.

At that time, four petroleum product storage tanks caught fire on the terminal’s premises.

In addition, the previous attack on the Port of Taman took place two months earlier – on the night of December 21–22, 2025, when drones also targeted the facility.
