Drones Attack Unecha Oil Pumping Station in Bryansk Region

Strike drones targeted the Unecha linear production and dispatch station (LPDS), part of the Druzhba main oil pipeline system.

The facility is located in the village of Vysokoye, the Unechsky District. According to local residents, the strike occurred around 10:00 PM on August 12.

The fire at the Unecha station was also confirmed by NASA satellite data, which recorded a hotspot at the site. According to the data, the fire began at 10:30 p.m., with new hotspots detected at 3:00 AM and 4:24 AM.

It is worth noting that Unecha is one of the key stations of the Druzhba main oil pipeline, which stretches over 5,500 kilometers.

The station is owned by the Transnefteproduct holding, which is responsible for the maintenance and transportation of oil to the European part of the network.

According to Astra, this is not the first attack on the facility. On August 6, a drone had already struck the site, causing a fire.

Meanwhile, NASA’s Firms service did not register an abnormal temperature increase, likely due to the limited scale of the fire.

The station is located 50–60 kilometers from the Ukrainian state border, making it vulnerable to most strike capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Militarnyi previously reported that strike drones had attacked an oil refinery in the city of Saratov, having caused a large-scale fire.

The Saratov Oil Refinery is currently one of Russia’s largest industrial facilities for oil refining and production of gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, road and roofing bitumen, vacuum gas oil and industrial sulfur.

The company is owned by Rosneft. As of 2024, it processed about 5.8 million tons of oil, which is 2.2% of the total refining volume in Russia.
