Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has reallocated ₴8 billion to meet the urgent needs of units operating unmanned aerial and ground systems.
Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this decision.
The funds will support military units participating in the “Drone Line” project and help expand the capabilities of newly created unmanned units.
This reallocation will allow for the rapid financing of critical needs for units such as Birds of the Magyar, K2, Rarog, Achilles, Nemesis, and Black Forest.
The government has allocated an additional ₴1 billion to bolster anti-drone protection for evacuation and logistics routes.
“We are working with partners to secure funding for the Drone Line project. The bilateral agreement with the Netherlands includes the procurement of drones from Ukrainian manufacturers. As a result, the state-owned Oschadbank has already issued bank guarantees for contracts worth €837 million,” Shmyhal said.
The Drone Line units are currently under the command of the Unmanned Systems Forces Group (USFG).
The group operates under a unified plan with standardized approaches to reconnaissance, planning, combat tactics, as well as automated cost assessments and real-time needs tracking.
According to a July report from the USFG, its forces have destroyed over 23,000 enemy targets.
This includes 5,134 enemy personnel losses.
In terms of anti-drone protection along major roads, local authorities are also implementing countermeasures.
On July 10, Militarnyi reported that the Sumy community had started deploying anti-drone tunnels.
