An unknown unmanned aerial vehicle was found on the territory of a brown coal mine in the town of Galczyce, in the Greater Poland Voivodeship of Poland.

An employee of the enterprise reported the find, after which emergency services were immediately called to the scene. This was reported by RMF 24.

Police teams from Konin and Poznan immediately arrived at the site, securing the perimeter and isolating the area of the find for investigative activities.

Officials confirm that no one was injured as a result of the incident and that there is no threat to mine workers.

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz confirmed that he had already received a detailed report on the situation. The report was provided to the head of the defense department by the commander of the country’s Armed Forces Operational Command.

In a conversation with journalists, the head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that the Military Gendarmerie and the police are working together on the case.

According to unofficial information from RMF FM journalist Krzysztof Zasada, the drone found in Galczyce resembles the Russian Gerbera in its characteristics. This model of drone has already appeared in official reports of the Polish army during previous attacks.

The similarity of the device to those that flew into Poland across the eastern border in September last year gives grounds for speculation about its origin. Investigators are checking whether this drone is part of that massive wave of airspace violations.

In particular, on the night of September 10, 2025, during the Russian attack on Ukraine, more than twenty drones of this type may have crossed the Polish border. At that time, the Polish side recorded for the first time such a large-scale violation of its airspace.

Fragments of those drones were subsequently found in various parts of the country over a long period of time.

Before launching into Poland, the Russians equipped the Gerbera drones with additional fuel tanks, which increased their flight range.

In its standard configuration, the drone has a single fuel tank located in the tail section. The drones that crashed in the country had an additional tank in the nose section.
