A coalition of drones has allocated €20 million to purchase reconnaissance UAVs for Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported about this.
The funds were allocated in response to the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces for reconnaissance drones, which are currently a key element of intelligence activities in the front-line zone.
In addition, they are actively used for adjusting artillery fire and for precision destruction of enemy air defense systems, aviation, and equipment.
“We are grateful to our partners for responding to this critical need. The prompt response and flexibility in making this decision are crucial, especially now, when the Defense Forces urgently need these. Thanks to them, the military can scout the terrain and enhance the situational awareness of their units, which is essential for successful combat operations,” Kateryna Chernohorenko, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Digitalization, said.
The Drone Coalition, founded in February 2024 at the initiative of Latvia and Ukraine, currently consists of 18 donor countries that have committed to providing the Ukrainian Defense Forces with reconnaissance, FPV, and bomber drones.
Norway signed this agreement in February 2024, which allowed for an increase in the number of participating countries to 18, as well as expanding financial capabilities for orders, production, and delivery of drones.
In one year of operation, the international Drone Coalition has supplied the Ukrainian Defense Forces with drones and invested over €2 billion in the production of Ukrainian systems.
Partners have also accumulated €176 million in the Joint Fund, to which Coalition members contribute. Members of the Coalition use these funds to conduct tenders, which serve as a tool for finding innovative solutions that can be scaled to create an asymmetric advantage over the enemy on the battlefield.
Ukrainian companies manufacturing drones became the second-largest in terms of the number of applications submitted in the second series of tenders announced by the United Kingdom within the Drone Coalition.
Militarnyi previously reported that the Drone Coalition has now launched a third tender for a product in the niche of tactical-level multi-rotor reconnaissance drones, which, in simpler terms, means the search for a replacement for the widely used Chinese Mavic 3 drones on the front lines.
Ukrainian companies can also participate in this tender through the link (lot Drone Capability Coalition – Tactical Multirotor ISR UAV).
