The Ukrainian company DevDroid is launching the production of Maul evacuation drones for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The company’s CEO Yurii Poritskyi told Militarnyi in an interview.

According to him, the Maul project was launched after a request from the 1st Medical Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was looking for a mobile means of evacuating the wounded in difficult combat conditions.

The idea for the platform originated in the unit, which formulated practical requirements for an evacuation drone based on front-line experience.

The development was carried out in close cooperation with the battalion’s technical specialists, who worked together to develop solutions for control, communication and integration of the evacuation module.

The 1st Medical Battalion became the first combat unit to use Maul drones directly in combat.

Since military units are not authorized to launch mass production, DevDroid took over the function of the manufacturer and scaling of the solution.

Currently, Maul is codified as an evacuation vehicle intended exclusively for the transportation of the wounded and is being prepared for delivery to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The company was provided with the full design documentation, and the drone is being further improved based on constant feedback from combat medics.

Based on the results of operation, changes are being made to the serial configuration – from the layout of systems to the protection and ergonomics of the evacuation capsule.

In particular, the option of a partially open capsule design is being considered to increase the chances of the wounded getting out on their own in case of a drone overturning.

According to the developers, the Maul platform has the potential for further modifications, some of which have already been successfully tested.

As a reminder, the 1st Medical Battalion recently conducted the HVER evacuation operation with the help of the UGV Maul.
