Denmark has officially authorized Ukraine to establish military production on Danish territory – the first case of its kind among NATO countries.
The new facility will be built in the town of Vojens in the south of Denmark, where the Ukrainian company Fire Point will construct a plant to manufacture rocket fuel, according to BILD.
At the construction site, Mayor Mads Skau, Denmark’s Minister of Economy Morten Bødskov, and Viacheslav Bondarchuk, director of Fire Point’s Danish office, participated in a symbolic ceremony to mark the start of building work.
Denmark’s decision is the result of bilateral agreements signed this year by the two governments to host Ukrainian defense production in Europe.
The plant will be located near the Skrydstrup Air Base, which will provide an additional level of protection and logistical capability.
The facility will specialize in producing solid rocket fuel for military use – a critical component for several Ukrainian missile systems.
Locating the production site in Denmark minimizes the risk of Russian strikes on the infrastructure and ensures the continuity of vital defense supplies.
According to the plan, the plant is expected to launch operations in 2026, after construction and certification procedures are completed.
Despite the project’s strategic importance, local residents are expressing concerns about safety and the risk of possible Russian sabotage, according to Danish media.
Denmark recently allocated funds for the production of Ukrainian weapons and for purchases in the United States.
