Photos have emerged online showing the use of the ASTRAS program at Russian command posts.
The finding was reported by John Hardie, deputy director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) for Russia.
Although almost no official information is available about the system, it may serve as an analogue to Delta — a military situational awareness platform used by Ukraine’s Security and Defense Forces.
It may also be replacing Discord, which Russian units in Ukraine had actively used for coordination, messaging, and voice communication.
After the platform was blocked in Russia, military command likely decided to switch to a domestic alternative.
Based on the published images, ASTRAS appears to have an interface similar to civilian instant messengers. The system likely supports text chats, voice communication, and possibly file sharing.
It remains unclear who developed ASTRAS, but it is likely linked to state or IT entities affiliated with Russia’s Defense Ministry.
