Ukrainian Defense Forces strike drones hit two Rubin-class (Project 22460 Okhotnik) patrol boats in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine published photos of the attack on the vessels.

According to the General Staff, the ships were struck on the night of February 21, 2026, near the city of Inkerman. The extent of the damage is being clarified.

Based on the published images and approximate geolocation data, the FSB patrol ships were likely moored at Berth No. 52 in Inkerman Bay, in the Sevastopol roadstead.

Project 22460 Okhotnik Patrol Ship

Project 22460 Okhotnik patrol ships are relatively modern vessels of the Coast Guard of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB). They have been built since 2007 at the Almaz shipyard in St. Petersburg and the Vostochnaya Verf in Vladivostok.

They are designed to protect territorial waters and patrol the 12-mile border zone. The vessels are sometimes classified as small corvettes.
A helicopter landing pad is located at the stern and can be fitted with a folding hangar for one Ka-226 helicopter.

Brief tactical and technical characteristics of Project 22460 vessels:

  • Displacement: 630 tons
  • Length: 62.5 meters
  • Beam: 12 meters
  • Crew: 24
  • Speed: up to 30 knots
  • Range: up to 60 days of autonomy
  • Armament: 30 mm AK-630 naval gun and 12.7 mm Kord machine gun; provision for Kh-35U Uran anti-ship missiles and an A-220M 57 mm naval gun system.

As of February 2026, 14 vessels of this type had been built and commissioned. They are assigned to regional Coast Guard units of the FSB Border Service.

In December 2025, Special Operations Forces drones struck the Rasul Gamzatov Project 22460 Okhotnik patrol ship, which was guarding Russian oil and gas platforms in the Caspian Sea.

In addition, Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces drones targeted a drilling platform at the Filanovsky oil and gas field in the Caspian Sea operated by Lukoil.

The Special Operations Forces press service said the field’s initial reserves are estimated at about 129 million tons of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas.
