Coordinated Drone Strikes on Kherson: Traitor Who Fought for Russia Detained on the Lithuanian Border

A traitor who, as a citizen of Ukraine, fought for Russia and then decided to flee to the European Union, was detained on the border of Lithuania.

The Security Service of Ukraine reported on this.

The detention took place as part of an interagency operation by law enforcement agencies of Ukraine and the Republic of Lithuania, where the suspect tried to flee as a refugee.

According to the investigation, the detainee was a 33-year-old UAV operator who launched Russian attack drones at Kherson.

The SSU said that he was a native of the Sumy region, but after the temporary annexation of Crimea, he moved to the peninsula, obtained a Russian passport, and voluntarily signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry.

Subsequently, the suspect underwent training at a training ground and took an oath of allegiance to the aggressor country.

“In the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces, he was appointed an operator of unmanned systems and sent to fight on the Southern Front of Ukraine. Having assessed the risks of participating in battles against the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the militant fled from the front and then to the European Union,” the SSU reported.

In the EU, the traitor planned to use his Ukrainian passport to apply for refugee status and go into hiding.

Based on SSU counterintelligence and the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police, Lithuanian law enforcement officers exposed the man on their border and handed him over to the Ukrainian side for justice.

The detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The defendant is currently in custody.

Recently, the Security Service of Ukraine also detained a Russian citizen in Lviv who joined the Defense Forces under the guise of a volunteer and began spying for the FSB.

He is suspected of coordinating Russian missile attacks on the Lviv region.
