More than 3,000 children and their families are being forcibly evacuated from 44 frontline settlements in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
This was reported by the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
Due to the security situation, a decision was made to compulsorily evacuate children with their parents, persons in loco parentis, or other legal representatives from 44 settlements in Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro regions.
“Unfortunately, the situation remains dangerous in some settlements. Our main task is to protect children and give families the opportunity to be safe. That is why we decide to evacuate children together with their parents or legal guardians from areas where the threat to residents remains high. It is important that each evacuated family receives proper support: from temporary accommodation to legal support,” said Oleksii Kuleba, Minister of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.
In particular, a decision was made to evacuate children by force:
In addition, on December 30, mandatory evacuation was announced in 14 settlements of the Chernihiv region. The evacuation has been completed in 3 settlements, and is still ongoing in 11. The evacuation is carried out within the region.
In total, since June 1, 2025, nearly 150,000 people have been evacuated from the frontline areas to safer regions, including nearly 18,000 children and more than 5,000 people with reduced mobility.
In particular, about 94.4 thousand people were evacuated from the Donetsk region, more than 35 thousand people from the Dnipropetrovsk region, more than 4.6 thousand people from the Sumy region, more than 3.8 thousand people from the Kherson region, more than 8.8 thousand people from the Kharkiv region, and more than 2.7 thousand people from the Zaporizhzhia region.
Currently, there are 17 transit centers to receive evacuees. The centers in Pavlohrad and Voloske in the Dnipropetrovsk region and Lozova in the Kharkiv region are receiving the most people.
In the transit centers, people receive comprehensive assistance: humanitarian, medical, psychological, legal and social. They are helped to restore their documents, apply for benefits and social services, and receive financial support from the government and humanitarian organizations.
In November 2025, Russians killed three civilians who tried to evacuate directly from the area of active hostilities.
The war crime was recorded by the pilots of the 77th Airmobile Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces. The Russians struck with an FPV drone at civilians who were traveling on a motorized walker between the villages of Zahryzove and Bohuslavka, the Kharkiv region.
