The Come Back Alive Foundation has delivered 16 specially equipped evacuation vehicles — CASEVACs — to Ukrainian military units within the Zalizno Poruch (Iron Nearby – ed.) fundraising campaign.

The foundation said the project, launched in partnership with Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia), had raised more than the targeted ₴48 million, having enabled the purchase of an additional vehicle.

The foundation reported that within the framework of the Zalizno Poruch (Iron Nearby – ed.) project, funds had been raised for 15 vehicles, but 16 had been purchased.

“Last year, together with Ukrzaliznytsia, we launched a campaign to raise funds for 15 CASEVACs to support five brigades of the Defense Forces. But despite the goal of UAH 48 million, you collected much more,” the foundation said.

The final three vehicles will be deployed with the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Knights of the Winter Campaign” , while the additional unit will reinforce the Da Vinci Wolves battalion’s medical service.

Designed for frontline medical evacuation, these vehicles are equipped to extract wounded personnel from combat zones and transport them to stabilization points.

All 16 have been fitted with electronic warfare systems to help shield them from Russian drone attacks.

Since the Russians are purposefully hunting, in particular, medical vehicles, the foundation has equipped all 16 CASEVACs with all that is needed. Each CASEVAC includes enhanced batteries, power cells, inverters, an independent lighting system, reinforced bumpers, roof racks, and winches for off-road recovery.

Medical evacuation on the battlefield is governed by the “golden hour” principle: the chance of survival increases significantly if a wounded soldier receives professional care within 60 minutes of injury. CASEVACs are critical to gaining that time.

Rapid transportation to a hospital or stabilization point reduces the risk of complications, such as infections or shock.
Recently, the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation has converted British FV432 armored personnel carriers into armored MEDEVACs.

These upgraded vehicles are now equipped with new engines, autonomous power systems, communication tools, and fully redesigned medical interiors.
