The Come Back Alive Foundation has delivered 150 FN Minimi light machine guns to Ukrainian defenders.
The Come Back Alive Foundation announced this.
The new machine guns have strengthened 18 military units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. They were purchased with funds donated by caring individuals and partners to the fund’s general accounts.
“Your donations impress not only our hearts. While you’re reading this line, you could make fifty shots with the FN Minimi Mk.3. Now imagine what 150 brand-new machine guns, which we’ve used to reinforce 18 military units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, are capable of,” the Come Back Alive Foundation said.
The infantry weapons were delivered as follows:
And two more FN Minimi machine guns were received by one of the Special Units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
The total cost of the delivered weapons, which have already proven their effectiveness in the fight against the invader, is UAH 103,120,200.
140 of these machine guns were purchased thanks to donations to the general accounts.
Another 10 FN Minimi machine guns, worth UAH 6,874,680, which were donated by the fund’s partner – Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine, Limited Liability Company, have reinforced the 118th Mechanized Brigade.
Last year the Come Back Alive Foundation delivered the first 150 machine guns in 7.62×51 mm NATO caliber to the defenders. They doubled the arsenal of the FN Minimi machine guns of Belgian production, which Ukrainian defenders had already received thanks to donations to the fund’s accounts.
The Minimi is designed to enhance the firepower of infantry units, providing effective fire at ranges up to 600-800 meters, combined with high mobility.
The machine gun is based on a gas-operated automatic weapon, where the barrel is locked by turning the bolt. Ammunition is fed from a metal strip. The latest version of the Mk.3 weighs about 8.2 kilograms.
