China has delivered the modern air defense systems with six Y-20 planes of the Chinese Air Force to Serbia.
Militarnyi informs about this.
On Saturday morning (April 9), six Chinese Air Force Y-20 transport planes landed at Belgrade’s civilian airport, reportedly delivering HQ-22 surface-to-air missile systems for the Serbian military, the Associated Press reported, citing its own sources.
It was reported back in August 2020, that Serbia had acquired Chinese FK-3 medium-range anti-aircraft missile systems.
In total, three batteries of these systems have been ordered for the air defense of the Balkan country.
Chinese FK-3 anti-aircraft missile systems are an export version of the HQ-22, the latest generation of medium-range air defense systems.
FK-3 was first publicly presented at Zhuhai in 2016. The system has a range of 150 to 170 km and can reach targets at an altitude from 50 m to 27 km. The export version of the FK-3 has a range of 5 to 100 km in range and 50 m to 27 km in altitude.
Previously, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia received six CH-92A attack drones and 18 guided missiles with FT-8C semi-active laser guidance from China.
Serbia became the first known customer of this drone, signing an agreement on its purchase with China in 2018.
It is worth noting that Serbia is an ideological partner of Russia. The country also did not join the sanctions against the aggressor state.
