Bulgaria will not provide Ukraine with heavy weapons, as it was requested by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria Vitaliy Moskalenko.
The Prime Minister of Bulgaria Kiril Petkov announced this.
He referred to the decision of the parliament on military-technical assistance to Ukraine, which was adopted on May 4, The Sofia Globe reports.
“We will abide by the decision of the National Assembly,” Petkov said.
As previously reported, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Bulgaria has sent a formal note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria asking to provide weapons that should help in the fight against Russian aggression.
This regarded Soviet-era howitzers and missile systems.
According to the decision of the Parliament, referred to by Kirill Petkov, the National Assembly gave the Government of Bulgaria a mandate to support Ukraine, and according to the resolution Bulgaria will:
