British military specialists in Ukraine voluntarily train local recruits with a risk to life.
British military instructors Tommy Moore and Brett Mackenzie talked about their work in the active war zone.
Two instructors left the safety of the UK in October to get into the Ukrainian military near the front line.
They offered the Ukrainian military skills training for free.
Tommy Moore said he sought to help Ukrainians in a war in which they had no choice but to fight.
“What a phenomenal, proud, warrior people that they are. It was absolutely my honour and privilege to help in what little way I could to make their lives a little bit easier by providing some training,” says Tommy Moore.
Tommy Moore added: “They are not necessarily militaristic people, they’re normal people thrust into a situation which is horrible but they have no choice.”
It trains Ukrainian military personnel in close-combat fighting in the face-to-face likelihood of clashing with the Russian military.
According to him, in Ukrainian units there is a general shortage of training on this matter.
Another volunteer instructor, Brett Mackenzie, is a former British infantryman who specialized in weapons training.
He felt the need to help Ukrainians by seeing how the Russian side treats civilians.
Recall that in early October, the training of junior commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began in the UK.
