The Brazilian Army has begun developing the S+100 tactical ballistic missile. This new weapon will be integrated into the Astros II multiple launch rocket system.

According to Army Recognition, citing Estadão, the project is being carried out by the Army’s Logistics Command and Department of Science and Technology in partnership with Avibras.

The S+100 is based on the earlier S-80 project and is designed to be fully compatible with the universal launch modules used by the Astros system.

Who will produce ballistic missiles for Astros II?

The program is being implemented against the backdrop of Avibras’ restructuring, as the company has been under judicial recovery since 2022.

The new corporate structure has been capitalized with $499.8 million, allowing it to retain control over its intellectual property and avoid being taken over by foreign owners.

The company plans to resume production in May 2026. To fulfill new orders, its workforce will gradually increase from 200 to more than 1,000 specialists.

Meanwhile, engineers are completing work on the MTC-300 cruise missile, which is about 90% ready. The system, with a range of up to 300 km, uses a turbojet engine and can strike targets with an accuracy of up to 30 meters.
