Brave1 held the first international investment summit Defense Tech Valley dedicated to Ukrainian defense innovations.
The press service of the Brave1 defense cluster reported on this.
The Defense Tech Valley Summit, held in partnership with Militarnyi, provided a unique opportunity for the representatives of government agencies, the Defense Forces, and business to join forces to develop high-tech solutions that can strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The event was attended by 1,300 participants, including more than 100 investors from around the world, 650 Ukrainian and international developers from more than 250 teams.
Over the course of two days, all Ukrainian teams presented their developments to the potential investors and other participants of the event.
On the first day, 28 teams presented the innovative solutions in the field of defense technology: from UAVs and machine vision-based targeting systems to robotic systems and artillery detection systems.
The second day was dedicated to the conference, which highlighted the main issues of the development of the Ukrainian defense tech industry in times of war and the potential for attracting investment for defense innovations. Foreign investors shared their experience of working with the Ukrainian defense tech market, as well as advice for the Ukrainian producers and the government officials on how to stimulate the investment attractiveness of the defense innovations.
Representatives of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Strategic Industries emphasized the importance of state support for the defense innovations.
“More than 200 technological developments are registered on the Brave1 platform every month, and each of them needs funding. In the year and a half of its operation, Brave1 has issued grants for more than $8 million and has been actively engaged in matchmaking between manufacturers and investors. Obviously, this is not enough: the international funds need to be raised for scaling and high-quality R&D. That is why we have gathered 650+ developers and more than 100 investors in Kyiv. We must do everything possible not to miss the next game changer of the war. I am sure it will be a Ukrainian development,” emphasized Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology of Ukraine and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
The event organizers noted that the summit laid a solid foundation for the further growth of Ukraine’s defense technology industry.
Developers and investors are already actively discussing the investment deals, the projected total value of which will reach $50 million by the end of the year.
In addition, during the event, the Brave1 cluster signed a memorandum of cooperation with CenSec (the Danish Defence, Space and Security Center), which opens up new opportunities for cooperation in the field of defense technology.
