The American company Boeing is increasing the production of seekers for missiles used in the Patriot air defense system.
This is reported on the official Boeing website.
According to the company’s representatives, Boeing will set a new record this year for the number of homing warheads produced annually.
These warheads are used in MIM-104 missiles of D/E and F versions, enabling the missile to accurately target its objective.
The warheads are produced in two types: the first is a semi-active radar homing seeker, which is used on D/E missiles and must receive constant target illumination for guidance.
The second one is the active GWS, which is used on MIM-104F and F MSE missiles and does not require constant target illumination by the radar of the complex.
The missiles are capable of engaging the target at a certain range and flying autonomously without the use of Patriot auxiliary means.
According to Boeing, several factors contributed to the increase in production, including improved manufacturing processes and production control.
It has also achieved greater supply chain stability to support PAC-3 circuit board assembly and full production of homing systems, and improved the quality of the product’s first test.
According to the manufacturer, since 2000, the company has delivered more than 5,000 active warheads for MIM-104F (PAC-3) missiles. Today, the company is preparing to break its own production records for the number of warheads produced.
Previously, Militarnyi reported that the United States and Japan will increase the production of MIM-104 missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
As more and more countries are now in need of American air defense systems, and even more missiles for them, Japan and the United States will team up to implement their own plans.
