A fire broke out at the Mozyr oil refinery in Belarus, where Russia was planning a provocation.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus reported on this.
“Rescuers eliminated the flame burning from the valve of the gasoline production unit on the territory of JSC Mozyr Oil Refinery in the city of Mozyr, Gomel Region. No casualties reported. The cause of the fire is being determined,” the statement reads.
On August 4, the Secret Services of Ukraine warned that Russia planned to stage a provocation in Belarus in order to blame Ukraine and drag Belarus into a war. The provocation was supposed to take place “under a foreign flag” at a strategic facility of Belarus – the Mozyr Oil Refinery.
According to available information, a sabotage and reconnaissance group of Russian military personnel was preparing the attack.
The training was also carried out by Russian special services officers who were sent to Belarus under the guise of Wagner PMC mercenaries.
“This Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group is supposed to commit a provocation, pretending to be Ukrainian saboteurs,” the SSU said.
The Russian Federation planned to blame Ukraine for the attack in order to once again try to drag Minsk into a full-scale war. The SSU received information about the planned terrorist attack in Belarus from several sources.
“In particular, from the testimony of a Russian serviceman who was captured by Ukrainian defenders in the Zaporizhzhia region,” the SSU added.
SSU cyber security specialists also recovered and analysed information on the captured invader’s mobile phone. Among other things, it was established that he had previously participated in hostilities against the Defence Forces in southern Ukraine, and recently he was instructed to relocate to Belarus as a member of the so-called Wagner PMC.
Already at the stage of changing his place of service, the Russian military man received information about a “special mission” at the Mozyr Oil Refinery. SSU cyber specialists found deleted correspondence with other performers, photos of the facility and some information about the operation on his phone.
As previously reported, on February 21, 2022, the Russian special services conducted a false flag operation, attacking the territory of Russia using armored vehicles under the guise of “Ukrainian sabotage-reconnaissance group”.
