The Armed Forces of Ukraine disabled the Russian Kasta radar station with a high-precision strike.
The Come Back Alive Foundation posted the video of the destruction.
Aerial reconnaissance detected the invaders’ radar on one of the front lines. They then transmitted the target’s coordinates to a higher command, which decided to destroy it.
Judging by the video, high-precision weapons were used to strike the Kasta radar station. Most likely, it was an American HIMARS rocket system.
To strike such targets, artillery crews operating these systems usually use high-precision rockets with warheads containing thousands of tungsten balls.
The footage shows one of the two projectiles exploding directly above two vehicles that are part of this radar system.
Such munitions usually lead to the complete destruction of unarmored enemy vehicles, even if no fire occurs.
The main components of the radar are the antenna, electronics, and equipment inside the vehicles that form the system. Therefore, after such damage, this radar was likely at least put out of action or completely beyond repair.
The Come Back Alive Foundation does not disclose the location or exact date of the strike. They only noted that the enemy Kasta radar station was discovered using a drone funded by donations to this charitable organization.
The Foundation also stated that the aerial reconnaissance of the 43rd Artillery Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which located the target and confirmed the hit, received their assistance in the amount of UAH 41,863,467. Ukrainian defense forces have repeatedly destroyed Russian radar stations of various modifications.
The 35N6 ‘Kasta’ radar station is a mobile, two-coordinate decimeter-wave surveillance radar designed for airspace control, target coordinate determination, and identification of aerial threats, including extremely low-altitude targets.
The station consists of a hardware vehicle, an antenna vehicle, and a cable-laying trailer mounted on army trucks. The system also includes primary and backup power units, as well as a remote operator’s workstation, which can be located up to 300 meters away.
