Ukrainian company Archer presented a thermal sight equipped with a duplicate channel for displaying the image on the operator’s monocular.

The video with the demonstration was published on the manufacturer’s social media page.

According to the manufacture’s notes, the sights with an additional channel are well adapted for anti-aircraft fire against air targets by mobile AA fire teams.

The video shows how the Ukrainian military freely operates the M2 Browning heavy machine gun with such a monocular.

Thermal imaging optics are important for mobile groups, since almost all Russian attacks by night drones occur in the dark, when they are difficult to detect.

Currently, most Ukrainian mobile AA fire teams with rifle weapons search for targets in the night sky using powerful spotlights and hunter thermal imagers. The latter require direct visual contact from the shooter with the optical device, which is inconvenient when transferring fire from side to side.

The manufacturer in its note also showed an image of one of its devices on a KPV 14.5mm heavy machine gun, mounted on a machine gun for anti-aircraft fire.

This use of the sight is noteworthy, because not all military grade optical devices are able to withstand high shock loads when firing weapons of this caliber.

Archer products are massively used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, UAR-10 sniper rifles are regularly equipped with sights, SICH M30 anti-sniper complexes come to the units.

Archer also manufactures optical devices for armored vehicles. In July 2021, it developed an advanced TPN-1 gunner’s sight for T-64BV tanks.

The compact and light sight of the gunner of the main battle tank provides timely information about the environment day and night, identification of targets and effective recognition of armored vehicles for a distance of more than 3.5 km.

As previously reported, this month the Come Back Alive Foundation announced that since June last year it had trained and equipped 556 marksmen with sights as part of the ‘Zvirolovy’ (‘Beast Catchers’) project.
