US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announces a new $2 billion aid package for Ukraine.
The VoA reported on this.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
The assistance is provided within the framework of foreign military funding.
“We will provide an additional $2 billion in foreign military financing for Ukraine. And we have combined this into a first-of-its-kind defense enterprise fund, which has three components,” the Secretary of State emphasized.
This wording probably refers to the previously published information that the United States will order Ukrainian-made weapons for the Defense Forces.
At the time, it was about $1.6 billion, and the information was disclosed by MP Arsenii Pushkarenko, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation.
The funds will be taken from the financing provided under the recently signed aid package for Ukraine of almost $61 billion.
“This is very important today because it regards the creation of joint defense enterprises that will be located in Ukraine or our neighboring countries, taking into account security aspects,” the MP emphasized.
Our economy will also be further stimulated by additional funds for the defense industry.
The United States will support the production of Ukrainian drones as part of a long-term military aid package.
The $6 billion aid package from the United States, which was announced on April 26, 2024, as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) program, provides, among other things, “components to support Ukrainian production of UAS and other capabilities.”
It is not confirmed what is meant by these words in the American document.
