An attack drone crashed and exploded in Estonia. The authorities suppose that it was Ukrainian.

The discovery was reported by Margot Palloson, head of the Estonian Security Police, as quoted by ERR.

It is reported that on Monday, August 25, in the afternoon in Tartu County of Estonia, a local farmer found the wreckage of an attack drone. There was also an explosion crater on the field.

The wreckage was discovered in the Elva parish. The Security Police Department, together with the prosecutor’s office, launched an investigation. No one was injured in the incident.

According to law enforcement officials, the drone crashed in Estonia early on Sunday morning.

“According to preliminary data, we have reason to believe that it could have been a Ukrainian drone targeting targets in Russia, but that Russia used GPS jamming and other electronic warfare to knock it off course, and it veered into Estonian airspace. At this time, there is nothing to suggest that it could have been a Russian drone,” Pallsson said.

He also noted that it was a military drone with a warhead that detonated.

Palloson added that the drone could have come to Estonia from either Russian or Latvian airspace.

Official photo credits of the UAV wreckage have not yet been released. Therefore, it is not known what model of the aircraft is involved.

Defense Minister Hanno Pevkurs emphasized that the discovery of the drone wreckage is primarily due to the fact that Russia continues its war against Ukraine, and Ukrainians are defending themselves.

Commenting on the situation, Ants Kiviselg, head of the Defense Intelligence Center, noted that Russia’s jamming of GPS signals is aimed at protecting strategic facilities and is not directly aimed at Estonia or other NATO allies.

On Saturday and Sunday night, drone activity was observed in Russia’s Leningrad region as Ukraine attacked targets on Russian territory. One of the largest gas processing plants in Europe, Gazprom Ust-Luga, was hit.
