​​An air defense unit tasked with destroying barrage munitions is formed and manned in Prykarpattia.

Svitlana Onyshchuk, Head of Ivano-Frankivsk RMA, announced this.

“An anti-aircraft machine gun battalion has been formed and manned in Prykarpattia, whose task is to protect the region from attacks by enemy drones,” Onyshchuk reported.

According to her, 54 pickup trucks were purchased for the needs of the new battalion.

“Part of the vehicles was purchased at the expense of the proceeds from the charity auction. The rest is the funds of territorial communities and donors,” Onyshchuk added.

She noted that all vehicles were equipped with heavy machine guns, autonomous surveillance, communications, and other special equipment.

“For this purpose, UAH 25 million was allocated from the regional budget,” Onyshchuk emphasized.

She added that there the newly formed Battalion is already showing results: during the last attacks, it was successfully destroying enemy targets.

It is worth noting that the military received pickup trucks that were equipped with American Browning M2 machine guns.

As Russian loitering munition attacks on Ukrainian cities increase, Ukraine is constantly increasing the number of mobile air defense groups.

These air defense groups are hoped to counter these Russian terrorist tactics.

In December, the Anti-Aircraft Machine-Gun Battalion in Prykarpattia was also strengthened with new equipment against drones.
