Air Assault Forces Thwart Russian Assault and Eliminate More Than 40 Enemy Soldiers

On Tuesday evening, Russian troops launched a massive combined arms assault on the positions of the 71st Jaeger Brigade of the 8th Air Assault Corps in the Sumy region.

The fighting took place between the settlements of Andriivka and Oleksiyivka, where the enemy tried to break through the Ukrainian defense, the 71st Jaeger Brigade reported.

According to the released video footage, in the first phase of the offensive, five enemy infantry groups tried to covertly approach the paratroopers’ positions.

The Ukrainian military detected the enemy’s movement in time and struck at the outskirts of the defense line.

After the first attempt failed, more than a dozen Russian troops tried to use a gas pipe to covertly advance.

This maneuver also ended in the assault group’s destruction under fire from Ukrainian units.

Later, the enemy moved to an open attack, using ATVs and simultaneously bringing in infantry from another direction.

Both assault groups were destroyed by drone strikes and artillery of the 71st Airmobile Brigade in cooperation with neighboring units.

According to the brigade, as a result of the battle, the losses of Russian troops amounted to 42 killed servicemen.
