Romanian company OVES Enterprise and U.S.-based MSI Defense Solutions have signed a strategic partnership agreement to develop next-generation autonomous anti-drone systems powered by artificial intelligence — without relying on radar or GPS.
The partnership was announced by MSI Defense Solutions.
The two companies aim to integrate artificial intelligence into next-generation combat platforms.
A particular focus will be made on enhancing the EAGLS drone countermeasures system through the Nemesis AI platform developed by OVES.
Due to this symbiosis, the result will be a fully autonomous system capable of detecting, classifying, and intercepting threats independently.
Recent battlefield developments have shown the growing dominance of agile and low-cost drones, often outpacing traditional defense systems. In response, AI is becoming a key asset, providing rapid, precise responses without human intervention.
The Nemesis platform operates entirely on visual data, combining daytime and thermal imaging analyzed by neural networks. This enables the system to perceive, process, and act without satellite or radar input.
Nemesis processes data in real time, transmitting it instantly to the combat control unit, where threats are classified and neutralization protocols are generated. This architecture minimizes response time and improves interception success rates.
Beyond analytics, the AI module will also control the physical movement of the turret, allowing for faster and more precise targeting than conventional mechanical systems.
Developers say the final product will cost half as much as existing systems while matching or exceeding the performance of top-tier models.
“By fusing radar with real-time visual recognition and onboard AI decision-making, we’re enabling faster, more precise threat classification and engagement. This is about shortening kill chains, reducing operator burden, and delivering an affordable, autonomous layered defense solution that can outpace emerging drone threats at the tactical edge”, said Nguyen Trinh, CEO of MSI Defense Solutions.
“We’ve demonstrated that we can deliver more than a recognition tool, as we offer a complete platform that analyzes, decides, and acts at the pace required on the ground,” said Mihai Filip, CEO of OVES Enterprise.
The partnership strengthens both companies’ positions in the global defense market and paves the way for the new system’s integration into Romania’s armed forces and those of other NATO countries.
