On the night of July 11, 2022, a huge explosion occurred in the city of Nova Kakhovka, Kherson region.
Local residents shared numerous videos and photos of the incident on social media.
Serhiy Khlan, Advisor to the Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck at the ammunition depot of the ruscist invaders.
The explosion occurred at about 10:20 pm, preceded by an air raid siren that the invaders had turned on.
There have not yet been official reports on what exactly was struck and what had exploded.
Russian media claim that the HIMARS of the Ukrainian Armed Forces had been used. As for the target, Russian propagandists first claimed the hydroelectric dam to be hit and then put forward an unlikely version of the saltpeter storage being the target.
The Ukrainian Telegram channels are sharing the versions that the Russians have been concentrating their fuel and ammunition on a single territory at the same depot.
There are reports about nearby buildings being damaged and having broken windows.
On the same day, July 11, 2022, Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Minister of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories, appealed to the residents of the temporarily occupied districts of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions to try and evacuate through all possible ways.
Vereshchuk stressed that the Ukrainian military will liberate the temporarily occupied territories, and the enemy will be using the local residents as a “living shield.”
