In a 14-hour battle, Lviv paratroopers destroyed invading equipment and personnel, preventing them from cutting off a strategically important route in the Donetsk Region.
Soldiers of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade faced the Pskov paratroopers.
The Ukrainian Air Assault Forces Command spoke about the battle.
The Russian unit of the 104th Guards Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division from Pskov lost several armored vehicles and up to fifty soldiers that day.

The battle began when an enemy sabotage and reconnaissance group tried to approach Ukrainian positions.
Ukrainian paratroopers forced them to withdraw, using small arms.
The enemy retreated but later returned with armored vehicle reinforcements.
The soldiers of the 80th Brigade fought back. At first they used the NLAW missile system and burned an enemy’s BMD.
“Our soldiers showed courage and heroism during a fierce battle that lasted almost 14 hours. Senior lieutenant Oleksandr Ch. and senior soldier Oleh D., both of whom received shrapnel wounds, refused to evacuate, continuing to fire until the enemy retreated,” the statement said.
The 80th Brigade artillerymen bid the invaders a farewell with a massive artillery strike.
Exact place and time of the battle were not specified.
As previously reported, Special Operations Forces Soldiers demonstrated how they destroyed enemy BMP-2 with RPGs.
