In the Vuhledar sector, the 72nd Mechanized Brigade and several other units, defeated a Russian assault group with armored vehicles.
The Brigade has stated that the Russian invaders used several convoys of vehicles and a lot of infantry.
“Thanks to the high-quality and well-coordinated work of our brigade and attached units, the 72nd Brigade held the line,” the brigade said.
The Russian command sent a lot of infantry fighting vehicles to the attack, which were supposed to deliver troops to Ukrainian positions.
The Russian invaders tried to advance to the road 00532, which leads to the town of Vuhledar and the village of Vodiane, Volnovakha district, Donetsk region.
The Ukrainian military observed the movement of the Russian armored group from reconnaissance drones, and that helped them adjust the fire.
During their offensive, the Russians lost at least six infantry fighting vehicles that remained on the battlefield.
“When the enemy realized that the attack was failing, the survivors tried to escape, but not all of them succeeded. Death, capture or escape are all possible outcomes for the invaders,” the brigade added.
In this sector, the Russians are launching assaults with the involvement of personnel and equipment, after which they pause for several days and then resume their attempts.
The situation in the air is also complicated. The Russians continue using guided bombs actively.
In addition to the use of aviation, the enemy uses large reconnaissance UAVs to monitor the situation regarding movements and equipment.
In April, the 72nd Mechanized Brigade repulsed an armored offensive by the Russian invaders, who used T-62M tanks to attack.
