The Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a Storm Shadow cruise missile strike on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Air Force in Sevastopol, occupied Crimea.
The Crimean Wind Telegram channel reported that the attack occurred around 5:00 a.m. on May 27, 2026, after Russian authorities declared an air and drone attack alert across the peninsula.
Reports also indicated that Russian air defense systems were active during the attack.
About an hour later, local residents began sharing photos showing smoke rising from the area of the Black Sea Fleet Air Force headquarters in Sevastopol. According to the ChP / Simferopol Telegram channel, the strike was launched using Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
The strike targeted a temporary headquarters following the attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s main headquarters building at 2 Voronina Street in Sevastopol on September 22, 2023.
During that attack, Ukrainian aircraft used Storm Shadow missiles equipped with 450-kilogram warheads.
According to Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces, high-ranking officers were inside the headquarters at the time of the strike.
The attack effectively paralyzed the fleet’s command system for a period of time, as the building served as the main hub for communications and coordination of naval operations in the Black Sea.
The operation was later officially named “Crab Trap” and was reportedly intended to eliminate senior Russian military commanders.
The headquarters building suffered such extensive damage that Russian authorities started dismantling the remaining structure in February 2026.
Militarnyi previously reported that an overnight drone strike in the temporarily occupied city of Armyansk, Crimea, damaged a building believed to be linked to Russia’s FSB security service.
