The Russian invasion forces launched an unsuccessful attack in the Serebriansky Forestry area in the Luhansk region.

The command of the National Guard of Ukraine said that the attack was repulsed by units of the 5th Slobojan Brigade of the National Guard.

Before the offensive, the Russians conducted long-term artillery softening-up and then sent infantry with armored vehicles to the assault.

It is reported that the enemy initially occupied Ukrainian positions but was later pushed back from them.

During the battle, the Russians lost 30 soldiers; one was captured by the Ukrainians.

“On June 19, despite the long-term enemy artillery softening-up and tank support, the servicemen of the brigade managed to repel the enemy and regain control over our positions. According to the results of the fighting, 30 invaders were eliminated, and one was captured,” said the deputy director of the Department of Planning for the Engagement of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine, Colonel Mykola Urshalovych.

Soldiers of the National Guard also showed a video featuring an initial inspection of the bodies of eliminated Russians in the Serebriansky Forestry area.

It is noted that Ukrainian positions were attacked by Russian soldiers from the Storm Z, Akhmat units, and the 80th Guards Tank Regiment of the Russian Federation.

In Autumn 2022, when the military of the Ukrainian Armed Forces entered the forestry from the liberated Lyman, the main task was to go through the forest in the direction of occupied Kreminna and conduct an operation to liberate the city.

This area was considered a bridgehead to Kreminna and Stara Krasnianka. However, after the Russian troops pulled up their reserves in the direction of Chervonopopivka, a “parity of forces” was formed in this area. That is, in fact, why defensive actions were taking place on both sides.

As of the end of April 2023, the Defense Forces of Ukraine did not conduct assault operations in this area, instead engaged in active defense. The last attempt of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to advance was made in November 2022, when the Ukrainian defenders advanced to the Svatove-Kreminna highway.
