In 2023, the Dutch military will train soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This year, the country will deploy 230 servicemen to train Ukrainians, NOS reports.
Training courses will be held in Germany.
The Dutch military will contribute to and join the training of 30,000 Ukrainian military personnel within the framework of the European Union EUMAM Ukraine training mission for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is noted that the first 30 Dutch soldiers are to be deployed for four weeks in April and May.
The remaining 200 servicemen are due to arrive in Germany in August and September and will spend six weeks there training Ukrainians.
“Given the scale of mobilization in Russia, the training of the Ukrainian military is important for the Ukrainian stability,” the Dutch government said.
In addition, during 2023, Dutch servicemen will participate in training the Ukrainian military in the UK.
Also, future Ukrainian Leopard 2 main battle tanks will receive 20,000 ammunition from the Netherlands.
The Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany agreed to cooperate to transfer at least 100 Leopard 1A5 tanks to Ukraine. Vehicles are planned to be purchased directly from the German industry.
In addition, the Netherlands will pay to produce mobile anti-aircraft systems for the air defense of Ukraine. These air defense systems can be especially useful in the fight against Iranian kamikaze drones used by Russia. The country will also purchase the necessary ammunition for these systems from the Czech defense companies.
The air defense of Ukraine will also receive two Patriot SAM launchers and missiles to them from the Netherlands, along with the spare parts to service these installations. The Netherlands became the third country after the United States and Germany to provide Ukraine with long-range air defense systems.
