British citizen Paul Urey has died while being held hostage on the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk Region, the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic announced.

The so-called “ombudsman” of the terrorist group Daria Morozova announced the prisoner’s death.
She also said that British officials, international organizations, and foreign media had been informed of Paul Urey’s imprisonment.
A 45-year-old British man was taken prisoner by DPR terrorists on April 25. He was captured at a checkpoint near Zaporizhzhia.
The terrorist group accused him of fighting on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to the Guardian, Paul Urey did not participate in hostilities and was a humanitarian aid volunteer.
Dominik Byrne, the Co-founder and COO of the Presidium Network that provides humanitarian aid in conflict zones, told AP that Paul Urey and another Briton, Dylan Healy, were captured while trying to evacuate a family from Dniprorudne.
Russian militants claimed that Paul Urey died of “illness and stress”.
The Russian propaganda media reported that the prisoner “was provided with appropriate medical assistance.” However, he died on July 10.
According to Radio Svoboda, Paul Urey is from Warrington. He went to Ukraine on his own to help those caught up in the war, telling his family that he “couldn’t just sit around and do nothing.”
Previously, soldiers of the Defence Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine conducted an operation to release prisoners in the Kherson Region.
