Russian Su-34 aircraft have received new unified gliding and correction modules (UMPK) for FAB-500T bombs.
These systems are designed to convert conventional bombs into high-precision guided munitions with a long range.
Analysts from the Vodohrai group published a photo of the new module and reported that the design has an elongated tail section and enlarged wings. This solution is designed to improve the aerodynamic characteristics and flight stability of the bomb.
Due to the modernized UMPK, the declared range of the FAB-500T exceeds 100 kilometers. This allows the Su-34 to attack targets without entering the range of Ukrainian air defense systems.
Experts note that an identical design can be equipped with a Swiwin SW800Pro turbojet engine. This element significantly increases the flight range.
The first cases of using such products were recorded in late spring and early summer.
According to analysts, such modified bombs could have been used during the recent strikes on Lozova in the Kharkiv region and the Poltava region.
At the same time, the Russian Aerospace Forces are also armed with Grom-E1 guided bombs with a solid fuel engine. According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, their range can reach 193 kilometers, making them a dangerous tool for deep strikes.
On October 20, Russian aviation carried out the first known strike with a guided aerial bomb on the territory of Poltava region. This incident was an illustrative example of the enemy’s new approach to air attacks.
According to Militarnyi’s sources, the bomb fell 20-30 kilometers from Poltava, causing no significant damage but demonstrating an increase in the range of Russian weapons.
Currently, the use of such munitions remains sporadic, but their use indicates a gradual deployment of combat tests.
This may indicate Russia’s intention to scale up the production of new UMPKs.
