During the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, 31 thousand Ukrainian servicemen were killed in action.

This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during the “Ukraine. Year 2024” forum.

“31 thousand Ukrainian servicemen have died in this war. Not 300,000, not 150,000, that Putin and his deceitful circle claim, but nevertheless, every loss is a big loss for us,” the president said.

Zelensky added that during the hostilities, the Russians lost about 180,000 soldiers dead, along with about 500,000 wounded and missing in action.

“I don’t know how many missed actions they have, but I know that there are up to 500,000 in total with the injured. Ukrainians – 31 thousand. And it’s hurting a lot for us. I will not say how many were wounded, because Russia will know how many people are off the battlefield. I simply will not say this,” Zelensky added.

The President also added that there are missing in action among the Ukrainian military, but he did not give any figures.

“I won’t play with these numbers. I don’t want to,” Zelensky added.

He also mentioned the deceased civilians who died during the occupation, but did not give any details.

“…tens of thousands in the temporarily occupied territories of the dead civilians. We know of tens of thousands, I don’t know how many of them died, were killed, muzzled, tortured, or were deported. You know, there are some lists, but we don’t know how many [Russians] killed our civilians. We don’t know. We’ll know when we’re done with them. And with this Russia,” the President said.

Recall that in November 2023, the UK government revealed its assessment of the losses of Russian troops during the war with Ukraine.

The British estimate that approximately 302 thousand Russian troops were killed or wounded, and tens of thousands more have deserted since the start of the full-scale war.

At the same time, the number of dead mercenaries of Russian private military companies and mercenaries from other countries is not clear.
