Soldiers of the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade destroyed a Russian 2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled heavy mortar using drones in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Soldiers of the 102nd Territorial Defense Brigade reported that reconnaissance drones assisted them.
A position with a 240 mm self-propelled mortar was discovered near Chumatske and Reshetylivske in the Zaporizhzhia region.
FPV strike drones were immediately deployed to the Russian mortar. The hit was monitored by a reconnaissance drone.
The first strike resulted in a powerful explosion that neutralized the mortar.
Ukrainian soldiers then began to finish off the abandoned mortar with other FPV drones.
This 240 mm 2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled mortar is designed to destroy fortifications, manpower, and equipment.
The first deployment of 2S4 self-propelled mortars on the front line in 2022 was recorded in early April, when they were used in Mariupol to shell Azovstal, the last stronghold of the city’s defenders.
For rough guidance in the vertical plane (setting the sight) and loading the mortar, a hydraulic system is used.
The main ammunition of the mortar includes 53-F-864 high-explosive mortar round with a maximum range of 9.65 km, as well as 3F2 rocket-assisted round with a maximum range of 19.69 km.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have repeatedly destroyed such self-propelled mortars.
In July, the RAROG unit managed to destroy a Russian 2S4 Tyulpan self-propelled mortar in the Donetsk region.
