The Ukrainian Air Force is receiving new Western-made S-8 unguided rockets.
The footage of these 80mm rockets in Ukraine was shown by analysts from Ukraine Weapons Warfare.
It is reported that the missiles for Ukraine are manufactured by the Bulgarian defense enterprise Armaco.
Armaco’s catalog contains S-8 unguided rockets in different versions.
S-8 unguided rocket with a HEAT/FRAG warhead is designed to defeat ground armored and unarmored targets and enemy manpower.
S-8 rocket is part of the unguided aerial armament of frontline and army aviation and helicopters, as well as carrier-based aircraft and helicopters.
However, in Ukraine, these unguided rockets are also used from multiple rocket launchers mounted on pickup chassis.
The manufacturer states that the S-8 is delivered in boxes weighing 73 kg with 4 rockets in each, as can be seen in the published photos.
In January 2022, before the full-scale invasion, it was reported that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine was to increase in five times the order of the RS-80 unguided rockets for the Armed Forces.
The RS-80 was developed on the basis of the standard design of the S-8.
In February 2020, after several years of testing, domestic-made RS-80 80mm unguided rockets were adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
To ensure the most effective destruction of the enemy, the “Artem” State Joint Stock Holding Company provided RS-80 with various warheads and fusers. Already in November 2021, “Artem” announced successful testing of a FAE/EFP warhead for RS-80 prototypes.
