In the Vuhledar direction, journalists were shown the operation of French CAESAR artillery systems.

The footage of these 155mm artillery systems in the Donetsk region was published by French journalists who were allowed into the combat zone.

According to the journalists, these CAESARs belong to the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade.

The Vuhledar direction is the site of one of the fiercest battles in Ukraine. Ukrainian soldiers are trying to prevent the Russians from taking this town.

“Their daily life is to shoot and then hide in underground shelters of just a few square metres to protect themselves from Russian return fire. The soldiers’ faces show their exhaustion. In Vuhledar there were almost no inhabitants. All the houses turned into ruins,” French journalists say.

Ukraine received CAESAR wheeled self-propelled howitzers from France, as military and technical assistance to confront the invasion troops of Russia.

The use of these modern systems will strengthen the fire float on the Russian forces trying to advance in this direction.

Deputy Mayor Maksym Verbovskiy said that the Russians were not trying to break through the defense of Vuhledar, but were trying to surround the city on both sides.

“A counterattack of the enemy began on the 21st. For eight days, the city was under heavy fire from artillery, MLRS and helicopters. The city is destroyed. 100% of houses are damaged, the entire infrastructure of the city was also destroyed,” said Maksym Verbovskiy.

According to Verbovskiy, the Russians are trying to surround the city. They had partial successes and advanced in the direction of some villages, but now after the strikes of the Ukrainian military they have moved back to their previous positions.

“Now the situation is stabilized, but difficult. Fighting continues every day. Everything is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They still have two kilometers to go to the city, this is to go at least to the outskirts of the city,” said Maksym Verbovskiy.

Verbovskiy said that about 500 people were still remaining in the city. The police were able to evacuate the mother with three children who were in Ugledar. There are currently three other children remaining in the town.
