The USA will replenish Ukraine’s stockpile of 155mm artillery rounds with a new defense aid package.
The U.S. Department of Defense reported that the Ukrainian military would receive 80,000 rounds.
The Pentagon will transfer additional ammunition for HIMARS artillery rocket systems.
The new $275 million package includes counter-unmanned aerial systems equipment and counter air defense capability.
HMMWV high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles and ambulances are already included in the list of assistance as standard.
Ukraine will also receive about 150 generators and field equipment.
The $275 million will be covered by a Presidential Drawdown that allows the administration to quickly transfer weapons from Pentagon warehouses without congressional approval in connection with an emergency.
Currently, Russian missile strikes on Ukraine are partly aimed at exhausting Kyiv’s air defense capabilities.
To counter these attacks, the United States has already sent modern NASAMS air defence systems to Ukraine.
Washington previously announced that four Avenger short-range air defense systems, which use Stinger missiles, will also be delivered to Ukraine.
The US-allied countries have also transferred their air defense systems to Ukraine.
On Thursday, US lawmakers voted to provide Ukraine with at least $800 million in additional security assistance next year.
